Care Tips

  • If you decide to grow them indoors, they will lose color. Therefore please make sure they get exposed to at least 4 hours of sun everyday to retain the color.
  • Despite what everyone else says, they need moisture to grow well. Please DO NOT let the soil dry out. At HORP, we usually water them once a day in Summer. also DO NOT let the plant sit in water.
  • Please make sure to choose a container with sufficient drainage. This is very important! Succulents do not like to sit in waterlogged soil. Drainage is very important to prevent rot. Terra-cotta pots are ideal for succulents but keep in mind that on hot sunny days they tend to lose water rapidly.
  • Use organic compost soil for your succulents. They'll grow bigger with vibrant colors.
  • Keep an eye out for bugs. Overwatering and overfertilizing are the common causes of mealybugs. Move infected plants away from other succulents and spray with 70 percent isopropyl alcohol.
  • While succulents do not require much fertilizer, it'd be good to give them some slow release pellets.

When buying succulents online, it can be quite hard to discern between the good ones and the bad ones. We only select the healthiest ones for our clients because no two succulents are the same.

Many stores will buy their succulents from nurseries which grow them in greenhouses under comfortable conditions. After a while, they die when exposed to outdoor conditions. All of our succulents are grown outdoors, in Melbourne, Australia under harsh erratic weather conditions. This is how we only sell you the healthiest specimens.
